Kendra & Tyler Wedding
Kendra & Tyler had such a classic, romantic wedding that I found myself using a lot of black and white images - it was so timeless.
These two are high school sweethearts that grew up in the quaint town of Maymont, SK. They are currently about to embark on new adventures out east in the big city of Toronto. I'm sure they will have much fun and success!
The day of the wedding started at the iconic Bessborough Hotel in downtown Saskatoon. Kendra's maid of honour presented her with a glass pig ornament that she had saved from their travels to Italy a long time ago. Apparently it is good luck to smash glass, so the ladies donned their sunglasses and headed outside, hammer in hand, to smash the glass piglet before the champagne toast with Kendra's immediate family and the bridal party.
The couple wanted to do a first look, so with the sun high in the noon sky, we looked for a patch of shade at the very back of the Bessborough gardens. It made for a sweeping entrance and grand backdrop to the joyful and tearful emotions.
This wedding party was a lot of fun to work with! It was a breeze to hang out with them and we made sure to make a stop in at a local pub for the group to have a pint of beer on the patio.
The ceremony was set for late in the afternoon and was at the beautiful, historic church along the riverbank. It featured a traditional hand-fastening ceremony, where the minister ties the couple's hands together with a ribbon as a symbol of their union.
We took a few photos with just the bride and groom in the evening light, before Kendra & Tyler joined the reception festivities. The wind had picked up a bit, and it made for some fun, urban and artsy-hair-blowing photos against the concrete backdrop.
Reception highlights included: a popcorn & candy bar, delicious appetizers, a 4-tiered buttercream cake, and the maid of honour's epic Eminem-inspired rap/toast to the bride.
It was easy to see why these two are clearly so loved by everyone in their lives and the many great images reflect this couple's genuine manner and classic style.
Congratulations Kendra & Tyler!
